Meriem Aïzi- Partner

1. What did you do before joining Equinox?

After earning a graduate degree in Financial Market Organization and Oversight — Lyon’s “back office” degree to industry insiders — I started my career at the securities services division of Société Générale, where I first worked on processes, and later on project management. It was an excellent learning opportunity which taught me how important it is to be thorough when managing projects. After four years I wanted to try something new so I decided to move into organizational consulting, which is what I still do today. I started at Ernst & Young, where I stayed for two years, and then moved on to Odyssée (now Atos Consulting). Four years later, I came on board to help found Equinox Consulting.

2. Why did you decide to join Equinox Consulting?

I had been moving to progressively smaller organizations, which offered more independence and allowed me to play a greater role in expanding the business. In addition to the challenge of joining Equinox, which was an important factor but not the only one, I felt that Equinox would provide an opportunity to gain entrepreneurial experience and grow with the organization. I was also excited by the high quality of the people I would be working with – another key factor in my decision to come on board.

3. What do you currently do at Equinox Consulting?

I consult on investment banking and manage our Securities and Lean Six Sigma practices, which means I generally work on business process improvements, new business start-ups, and organizational projects following the recent mergers in the securities area. I am currently heading process improvement projects related to corporate securities transactions and Euro Medium-Term Notes. I am also helping one of our clients launch a commodities business.

In addition to leading consulting projects and managing other consultants, I work with Equinox partners, directors, and senior managers to run the firm and develop our business.

4. What do you like best about working at Equinox Consulting?

What I like best is the opportunity to set high goals and then reach them, by working with talented people in a friendly, professional environment. In fact, this is why Equinox has been able to rise to the top of our industry so quickly. I also appreciate the sense of shared values, something that has been present since the firm’s early days. These values anchor the firm’s upbeat attitude and maintain a healthy balance between business growth and a pleasant working environment.

5. What do you do when you are not at work?

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, talking for hours about how we would like to change the world. I like the movies, motor sports, dancing, and, sometimes, just doing nothing at all!
