1. What did you do before joining Equinox?
My first job was at Crédit Lyonnais, in its corporate division. I spent four years there, and it was the ideal way to prepare for a consulting career in the banking industry. I obtained a good overview of the banking industry and its operations, while learning about issues specific to commercial banking.
2. Why did you decide to join Equinox Consulting?
At certain points in your career, you have to make choices and take risks. I joined Equinox Consulting when the firm was in its infancy and had all the benefits of a start-up, including experienced, motivated people that were eager to take on the challenge – and were stimulated by the enormous potential of the banking and finance industry. In addition, for some of us Equinox was like a collective experiment in entrepreneurship led by our three founders, all seasoned consultants that have built successful consulting businesses in the past.
3. What do you currently do at Equinox Consulting?
Partners and Associate Directors often play a hands-on role in consulting projects, but that’s far from all we do. In fact, each of us is responsible for developing the firm in our own way. We all share management duties and look after our most important resource: our team of consultants, the hundred or so people that make up our core asset. We also manage projects and, of course, work directly with clients in the field.
I am personally involved in commercial banking and head-up our internal compliance and controls work group. For the past year, I have been working on a project to develop and implement an ongoing control process at a top-tier French bank. I am also leading a project at the subsidiary of a cooperative bank, which hired Equinox for three different projects: The first is a project to develop a new product for a promising market segment, roll the product out across the bank’s entire chain, and make all the associated process changes; the second is a RFP/RFQ management project; and the third is a project to revitalize an existing sales network. These projects also provide an excellent illustration of our commercial banking expertise.
4. What do you like best about working at Equinox Consulting?
What I really admire is how Equinox became a leader in the consulting industry in such a short period of time, and earned recognition for top-quality consultants and services – all while keeping the same spirit the firm had at its beginnings. I also like the mix of talent, experience, and backgrounds, which is what makes Equinox a unique firm and sets us apart from our competitors.
5. What do you do when you are not at work?
I try to spend as much time as I can with my family and friends. Most weekends are devoted to my wife and four children.
